I kept seeing Ne5 when I looked at the puzzle. Wonder what your opponent would have done.

It's interesting — looking at it, I totally agree that it's a nice move, and that it seems to force White to put their queen on e2, where it can be pinned. But once I put it into the engine, I saw that it's a a poisoned apple — once White's queen goes to e2, the knight is hanging on e5, and it can't really be defended. Your best move is just to retreat it, in which case White can trade it for his light-squared bishop and then double pawns on the f-file with the ensuing Bxf6. Any defense, with the rook for example, is thwarted by the now-possible f4, in which case either the knight or the rook is lost.

On the other hand, the bishop isn't as susceptible on e5 because you can always just trade it off for White's bishop, which is going to be a plus for Black no matter what.

It's a sharp position!
